Camacho-Quinn: Post Olympics season is for cash

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the dethroned queen of the high hurdles at the Olympics has admitted post-Olympics season races are majorly for making money.

The Puerto Rican lost her Olympic title to American, Masai Russell in Paris last month and got some sort of revenge at the Weltklasse Diamond League meeting in Zurich, Switzerland where he ran 12.36 to win ahead of French woman, Cyrena Samba-Mayela (12.40) and Russell (12.47).

For her effort, she got $10,000 for winning as well as eight points to further confirm her place in the Diamond League final in Brussels where, if she wins, she stands to win as much as $30,000 in top prize money amongst other things.

‘The goal for these post-Olympic races is to stay positive, make some money and have some fun. In the box I am always calm and confident. The end of the season is for cash,’ she said post-race in Zurich.

Camacho-Quinn is delighted to qualify to race in Brussel and reveals her thoughts about the race in Zurich.

‘Great, I qualified for the Diamond League final. I did not feel the back wind. I am ok. I am glad I came out with the win. I only got there, and I ran like freeze, if I touched a hurdle, it did not matter.

‘It is what it is. I kind of hurt myself. I always do this. I realized I ran too sloppy and needed to do a cleaner race. I keep running the same times. I did not run in Rome and had to pull out in Poland. So, I keep thinking ´What times would I had if I had run there? ´ I guess I am just stuck at a certain time. Brussels? I am tired… we will see,’ she said.
