Göztepe give up on Onuachu transfer

Turkish Super Lig side, Göztepe have given up on the chase for Nigeria and Southampton striker, Paul Onuachu.

Reports coming out of Turkey say the club gave up on the transfer due to the footballer’s reluctant attitude.

Th reports say Onuachu also rejected Göztepe offer.

The 30-year-old, who has also been linked with Trabzonspor, has reportedly not been considered in Southampton’s squad planning this season.

It was a matter of curiosity how the Nigerian, who played on loan at Trabzonspor last season, would decide.

Southampton set Onuachu’s fee at €15 million, but the player did not go to a European club during the transfer window.

Onuachu could be waiting for Trabzonspor to come in with an offer Southampton would be forced to accept since they do not consider the Nigerian in their plan going forward.

The 31-year-old joined the Premier League side in January 2023 and managed to play just 12 games without scoring or assisting any goal.

He scored 17 goals in 25 games while on loan at Trabzonspor last season and has netted 181 times in 365 games since he moved to Europe.
