‘Underdogs’ Ikorodu City FC say: ‘We are 100% ready for our NPFL debut game

Ikorodu City FC will begin their campaign in the Nigeria topflight league with an away game at the Muhammed Dikko stadium in Katsina where they will be guest of traditional side, Kano Pillars on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The Oga boys say they may be tagged underdogs, but they are ready to reveal a giant killer status starting with their first game in Katsina.

Bright Ozebagbe, coach of the NPFL campaigner believes ‘we have nothing to lose in the game.’

‘Every match is difficult regardless of the opponents. We are going to face the challenges; we are tagged as underdogs so I think that will help us.’

‘I think continuity is key and we still have most of our old players with us, we have integrated the new players and the synergy has been good from results we had in preseason.’ ‘The team is balanced in every area.’

‘I think we are ready, we are well prepared. The mentality is good and we are ready to play football.’

‘Our main target is to retain our NPFL status and that’s how we will approach every game,’ Bright told the club’s official website.

Club’s captain, Waliu Ojetoye also shares the same sentiments as the coach.

‘We are ready in every area.’ He believes the Kano Pillars game is a ‘good start to the season. It will test our mentality. It will test our character on the field,’ he told the club’s official website.
