‘Okwuchukwu is yet to reach her best’, says Falconets coach, Danjuma

Ominously, for one of the breakout stars of Colombia 2024, Christopher Danjuma, coach of the Falconets at the ongoing FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup says Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, who has been a standout for Nigeria in the competition is yet to scratch the surface of her potential.

‘She is yet to reach her best, what you’re seeing is not the best of Chiamaka yet. Progressively you will see more of Chiamaka and more of what she is made of.

‘She already has instincts in front of goal and an ability to take defenders on. What we’re looking to add is an ability to provide assists and make the right passes and runs and she’s going to get there,’ said Danjuma.

The player’s two goals and an assist have helped the Falconets to the first knockout round of the competition and Danjuma will be relying on her to inspire the team past that round for the first time since the team last did in 2014.

To FIFA, Okwuchukwu’s willingness to get on the ball, to take defenders on and always play forward, play positively have marked her as a star of the future.
