CAF Champions League: Rangers promise to overrun visiting Sagrada in Uyo
Coach and players of Nigeria Premier Football League champion, Rangers international of Enugu say they are battle ready to gallop over the visiting Angolan side, G.D Sagrada Esperanca in the first leg of their CAF Championships second preliminary round game at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.
The ‘Flying Antelopes’ are called are seeking for a place in the group phase of the competition and a group result in the first leg will help their cause when they travel to Angola for the return leg.
Coach of the side, Fidelis Ilechukwu believe they have done enough and are motivated to get the result that will give them the necessary confidence ahead of the return leg.
‘We are fully prepared to give our best against a quality team from Angola with our focus on getting the win that will make our progress in the competition smooth. With all that has been happening since our league opener, I am optimistic going into this encounter. We shall approach the match like a cup final and trusting God for His favour,’ said Ilechukwu after returning from national team duty.
Midfielder Saviour Isaac echoed his coach’s sentiments and said, ‘We have been well motivated for the task at hand and we have been undergoing series of drills from the coaches and I am optimistic that we are at the level needed to get the required result that will make the return fixture a mere formality.’
Attacking sensation, Okafor Onyekachi is also confident of victory.
‘We are fully prepared. We know the task at hand as we understand its not going to be an easy match. We are prepared physically, mentally and otherwise to win massively and make the second leg a mere formality. Simply put, we are motivated to get a good result on Friday against the Angolans.’
