Ighalo subbed off as his side, Al Wehda crushed 7-1 by Al Ittihad
Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo was subbed off as his club, Al Ittihad got annihilated Sunday evening 7-1 by their host, Al Ittihad at the King Abdullah Sports City in Abdullah near Jeddah in a Saudi Pro League match week three tie.
A hat-trick by Karim Benzema and further goals from Fabinho, Houssem Aouar, Fawaz Al Saqour and Saleh Al-Shehri with Moussa Diaby providing four assists were enough to condemn Ighalo’s club to their first defeat of the season.
The Nigerian, who scored the first goal in his club’s only win this season, the 2-1 defeat of visiting Al-Orobah FC at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium before the international break, was on for 46 minutes and was replaced by Mourad Khodari.
Ighalo has featured 36 across all competitions for the club he joined in August last year and scored 17 times.
Al Wehda is his third club in the Saudi Pro League and he has featured 128 times across all competitions since he first joined Al-Hilal SFC before moving to Al-Shabab FC and now his present club. He has scored 82 times.
