Chukwueze looking to move up to joint 3rd in UEFA Champions League scoring list by a Nigerian
Samuel Chukwueze has scored four goals in 13 UEFA Champions League appearances with two of the goals coming when he joined AC Milan last season from LaLiga side, Villarreal.
The two goals came in just four games in the competition for the Rosonnerri and the Nigerian is set to resume his goalscoring run in the competition on Tuesday at the San Siro when AC Milan host Premier League giants, Liverpool.
If the 25-year-old scores on Tuesday against a side he has faced twice in the competition without scoring, it will his first against the English side and his third in five games for Milan as well as his fifth overall in 14 appearances.
The goal will move him joint third with Nwankwo Kanu and Aiyegbeni in the all-time top scorers’ list by a Nigerian.
Obafemi Martins and Victor Osimhen are the most prolific Nigerians ever in the competition with nine goals each from 34 and 17 games respectively.
While Martins has retired from the game, Osimhen will be playing in the Europa League with Galatasaray which gives Chukwueze to either close the gap or overtake them and become the most prolific Nigerian ever in the competition.
With two goals in four games for Milan in Europe’s elite clubs competition, the 2015 Golden Eaglets star can make a go at the record.
