Iwobi becomes Nigerian with the most assists in Premier League history

Alex Iwobi has become the only Nigerian to have bagged the most assists in the history of the Premier League after moving clear of Nwankwo Kanu who was joint record-holder with the Fulham midfielder.

Iwobi has now assisted 30 times in the Premier League with the 30th coming on his 258th appearance in the competition.

The 28 year old provided the assist for his former teammate at Arsenal, Emile Smith Rowe to score Fulham’s second goal against Newcastle United at Craven Cottage.

It is Iwobi’s first assist against the Magpies in 11 Premier League appearances. He bagged six of his assists in 14 games against West Ham in the competition, four in 13 games against Southampton and another four in 14 games against Liverpool.

He also bagged assists against Brighton (3), Burnley (2), Leicester City (2), Crystal Palace (2), Leeds United (2) and one each against two of his former sides, Arsenal and Everton, and also one against Bournemouth and Fulham.

The Nigerian has also extended his record as the Nigerian with the most minutes played in the history of the Premier League and has moved five games within equaling Kanu’s record as the Nigerian with the second most appearances in the competition.
