Saka missing as Nwaneri trains with Arsenal senior team ahead of Bournemouth clash
Bukayo Saka could miss his first Premier League game of the season following the 23-year-old’s absence from Arsenal’s group training on Thursday at the Sobha Realty Training Centre ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.
Saka, who has scored twice and provided seven assists in Arsenal’s opening seven Premier League games of the 2024/25 season withdrew from the England squad after the 2-1 loss to Greece and Mikel Arteta is expected to provide an update on the Nigeria-born forward at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Meanwhile, another Nigeria-born star, Ethan Nwaneri could be set for his third Premier League game of the season after the 17-year-old was seen training with the first team on Thursday.
He featured in the 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur in September and was in the squad that scored two goals in added time in the 4-2 defeat of Leicester City at the Emirates stadium.
The teenager was an unused substitute in the 3-1 defeat of Joe Aribo’s Southampton just before the international break.
Overall, Nwaneri has made four appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League since he made his debut in the competition 3-0 defeat of Brentford in September 2022.
