Ndidi listed for 200th Premier League appearance as Leicester City visit Southampton
Wilfred Ndidi is in line to make his 200th appearance in the Premier League since he moved from Belgian Jupiler Pro League side, KRC Genk to English Premier League side, Leicester City in January 2017.
The 27 year old has been listed in Leicester City’s starting line up for the game against Southampton at the Saint Mary’s stadium and will now become the ninth Nigerian to reach that milestone after Shola Ameobi (298), Nwankwo Kanu (273), Alex Iwobi (260), Yakubu Aiyegbeni (252), Mikel Obi (249), Joseph Yobo (228), Vitor Moses (220) and Victor Anichebe (204).
It is also going to be his 186th start in the competition which extends his record as the fourth Nigerian with the most starts in Premier League history after Yakubu Aiyegbeni (216), Joseph Yobo (212) and Alex Iwobi who will be making his 201st time for Fulham against Aston Villa at Craven Cottage Saturday afternoon.
Ndidi has provided four Premier League assists this season, his most in a Premier League season and will be keen to add more as he targets the seven assists Iwobi and Peter Odemwingie provided to become the Nigerians with most assists in a season.
The Leicester City forward will be playing his 16th game against Southampton, the most he will be playing against any side in England across all competitions with 12 of them coming in the Premier League which will be the joint most (also Vs Liverpool) he will be playing against any side in the competition.
He has scored three goals in the 15 appearances he has made against thus far against the Saints, also the most he has scored against any side across all competitions in England.
