Aribo scores first EPL goal in two years; Chukwueze nets first in Serie A in seven months, Boniface nets winner again

Joe Aribo scored his first Premier League goal since October 2022 when he netted Southampton FC’s only goal in the 2-1 defeat against visiting Everton at the Saint Mary’s stadium .

Like he did two years ago, Aribo’s goal was not enough to give the Saints their first win of not only the season but in the last 21 Premier League games.

The 28-year-old doubled Southampton’s advantage on 28 minutes in front of the home fans but a second half fight back by Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City ensured the homers conceded thrice with a 99th minute strike by Ghanaian striker, Jordan Ayew handing the visitors all three points.

Two of Aribo’s three Premier League goals in 28 appearances have not earned Southampton a point while his opening goal in the competition, the 2-2 draw against Leeds United started the Saints fightback from a 2-0 deficit. All his three goals have also come at the Saint Mary’s stadium.

At the San Siro, Samuel Chukwueze also netted for the first time this season for AC Milan and it was also his first since he scored in his side’s 3-1 win at the Marcantonio Bentegodi against their host, Hellas Verona.

In Germany, Victor Boniface scored his fifth goal in seven Bundesliga games to earn his side, Bayer Leverkusen all three points in their 2-1 defeat of Eintracht Frankfurt.

This would be the second Bundesliga game this season where the Nigerian would score the winner for Leverkusen.

He scored the fourth goal in the 4-3 defeat of VfL Wolfsburg last month.
