Osimhen, Lookman nominated for IFFHS 2024 best footballer in the world award
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has nominated Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen and Atalanta’s Europa League hero, Ademola Lookman for the best footballer in the world in 2024.
The two Nigerians are on the list of 30 candidates released by IFFHS on Tuesday.
Osimhen, who scored a sensational goal in Galatasaray’s defeat of Antalyaspor in a Super Lig match last weekend and Lookman will battle Man City’s quartet of Ruben Dias, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Rodrid, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal and the retired Toni Kroos.
Also listed are Arsenal quartet of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba, Bayern Munich’s trio of Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Barcelona duo of Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo.
Athletico Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Fabian Ruiz of PSG, Rayo Vallecano of Spain’s James Rodriguez and Al-Sadd SC of Qatar winger, Akram Afif complete the list.
