Galatasaray coach, Buruk: ‘I thought Osimhen was coming to hug me after his wonder goal’
Galatasaray coach, Okan Buruk has corroborated his goalkeeper, Günay Güvenç’s claim that he thought Victor Osimhen was running towards the bench to hug gaffer after scoring the Puskas award-worthy goal to give the Yellow and Red a 3-0 win against Antalyaspor on Saturday.
Buruk revealed this at the press confrerence ahead of the club’s Europa League game against Swedish side, Elfsborg at the Rams Global Stadyumu in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Güvenç was telling the story of Osimhen running to him during his goal celebration in the Antalyaspor match and that he thought the Nigerian striker was running to Buruk.
‘Osimhen and I were sitting next to each other on the bench. He asked me a lot of questions on the bench. In particular, his last question was about the picture of Atatürk. He asked about the national anthem. He asked what the fans were cheering. He’s very open,’ said Güvenç during the press conference.
‘He came into the game, he scored a beautiful goal. Then, as he ran towards us, I thought he was going to hug our coach.’
Buruk interjected at this point and said, “I thought so. I thought he was going to hug me on my birthday,” he said.
Buruk’s response elicited laughter in the hall where the press conference was held.
