Osimhen tops list of players who have lost the most market value in 2024!
Victor Osimhen tops the list of players whose market values have plummeted due to poor form and other factors, according to Transfermarkt.
The Nigerian’s market value dropped by as much as €35m in the outgoing year after seeing his valuation dropping twice within the year in focus.
Osimhen became the first Nigerian to have a €100m market value in March 2023 and improved to €120m in June 2023 after inspiring Napoli to their third Scudetto title, the first in 33 years with the 26 goals he scored in 32 Serie A games.
Last season, a combination of factors including injury and national team engagement combined to reduce the performance and impact of the 25-year-old as he could only score 17 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
He also could not inspire his Serie A side who failed to secure a place in any of the European competitions at the end of the season after crashing out of the UEFA Champions League that season.
The Nigerian, who now plays for Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray on loan from Napoli had his market value dropped to €110m last December before shedding €10m in June this year.
Osimhen lost as much as €25m when the Super Lig market value was updated earlier this month to see his market value drop to €75m which means he has dropped as much as €35m in market value in 2024.
The Nigerian is followed PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani who lost €30m in valuation and he is now worth just €40m.
In third are Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, Bayern Munich duo of Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich who also lost and Milan Skriniar who all lost €25m each in 2024 and are now worth €60m, €40m, €25m and €20m respectively.
Despite Osimhen’s big drop in valuation, the Nigerian is still ranked number one among all Nigerian, African, Turkish Super Lig and Galatasaray players and 29th most valuable player in the world.
