Super Eagles to end 2024 among 20 most valuable national teams in the world
With the final market valuation of players completed by Transfermarkt for the year 2024, Nigeria’s Super Eagles still remain among the 20 most valuable national teams in the world despite having the team’s most valuable player, Victor Osimhen drop by as much as €35m in value this year.
Osimhen is now worth just €75m from the €110m he was worth late last year and until June when he dropped in value to €100m in June before losing €25m in valuation nearly four months later.
The Galatasaray of Turkey player still remain the most valuable African in 2024 and it is largely due to his market valuation that Nigeria’s squad worth has been second in the African continent behind Morocco.
The Super Eagles are now worth €281.55m to rank second behind Morocco (€324.55m) in Africa and 19th in the world.
What Nigeria lost in Osimhen’s drop in value, she got a little back from the rise in value of Ademola Lookman, Maduka Okoye and Victor Boniface.
Lookman had the biggest move by a Nigerian in 2024, rising from €30m in December 2023 to €40m this month while Okoye moved from €4m in valuation in June to €7.5m this month.
Boniface also moved up in value this month with the Bayer Leverkusen forward rising from €40m in valuation to €45m.
