Eliud Kipchoge confirmed for 10km race at Amazing Thailand Bangkok marathon on December 1, 2024

According to Marca, former world record holder (2:01:09) and double Olympic marathon champion, Eliud Kipchoge has been confirmed to run in the 10km event at the 7th Amazing Thailand Bangkok marathon on December 1, 2024.
The 39-year-old will participate as an ambassador for Thailand to promote the Asian country as an athletics tourist destination.

The Kenyan will run alongside 33,000 participants in a race promoted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and it will be the first time he will be competing in an official race that is not a marathon since 2016.

Kipchoge reveals why he has decided to run in the event.

“I have travelled frequently to Asia and share the big ambitions to grow athletics as a sport to make people happier and healthier. There is tremendous potential in the world of Asian athletics and I am happy to start working together with Amazing Thailand to promote it in the Asian region.

“I have always said that I want to make this world a world of runners because a world of runners is a brave new world and this partnership contributes to my personal ambitions,” he said following his confirmation for the race.
