Ndidi drops to fourth in two key Premier League stats
Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has dropped to fourth in two key Premier League stats after 11 games in the 2024/25 season as the competition takes a two-week international break.
The 27-year-old Nigerian was top of the number of successful tackles made by any player in the competition, especially defenders and defensive midfielder but has now dropped to fourth with 36 successful tackles, two three less than new leader, Noussair Mazraoui of Manchester United who has made 39 successful tackles and two behind the duo of Chelsea’s Moisés Caicedo Chelsea and Crystal Palace’s Colombian star, Daniel Muñoz
Ndidi is certainly in contention to end the season as the player with the most successful tackles made for the third time after winning, as it were, in the 2017/18 season (138) and the 2018/19 season (143). He won second with 128 successful tackles made in the 2019/20 season behind Aaron Wan-Bissaka (129).
The former KRC Genk of Belgium player has also dropped to fourth in the list of top assists providers this season.
He has provided four assists with the last coming late September when he provided the assist for James Justin to draw Leicester City 2-2 level on 63 minutes before scoring an own goal in the 94th minute to allow Arsenal win 4-2 at the Emirates.
Ndidi is looking like he can battle for the top assists award in the Premier League this season but he is surely on his way to either equaling or break the most assists in a Premier League season (7) by a Nigerian in the competition.
Peter Osaze Odemwingie and Alex Iwobi hold the record for a single Premier League season while Iwobi, with 31, is the all-time Nigerian assists provider in the history of the competition.
