Shooting Stars keen to avoid equaling an unwanted 2024/25 NPFL record in game Vs Sunshine Stars

Shooting Stars will be keen to avoid being the second team in the 2024/25 NPFL season to lose seven away games in a row when they face Sunshina Stars at their adopted home, the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne, Ogun state, southwest Nigeria on Saturday.

The Oluyole Warriors started the season with a point at Nasarawa United but have gone on to lose their next six games and will become the second team after Akwa United to lose seven away games in a row if they lose their southwest derby game to Sunshine Stars, a team that has won five games this season with four coming at home.

Last season, Sunshine Stars won 1-0 when Shooting Stars visited last December but the Ibadan-based side retaliated, as it were, winning 2-0 at the Lekan Salami stadium at Adamasingba in Ibadan last April.

A win for the visitors on Saturday could take them to fifth from seventh if other results go their way while the host will move at least four points clear of relegation if they secure their fifth home win of the season.
