Ndidi out for a couple of weeks with hamstring injury
Leicester City Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed Wilfred Ndidi is unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United and that the Nigerian will be out for a couple of weeks after copping a hamstring injury during the Foxes’ game against Brighton which ended 2-2 at the King Power stadium.
‘Ndidi has a hamstring injury, so he’s not available for [Saturday’s] game. We’re looking at his progress and how he will react to the injury, but it looks like it’s at least a couple of weeks,’ van Nistelrooy told the club’s official website.
Ndidi will now miss his first Premier League game of the season and first since he missed the final game of the 2022/23 season against West Ham at the end of May in 2023.
The 27-year-old would have made his 290th appearance for the Foxes against Newcastle on Saturday since he joined the club from Belgian Jupiler Pro League side, KRC Genk in January 2017.
It would also have been his 208th in the Premier League.
