Salah named MOTM for the 15th time in 17 games, reaches a century of home goals in Premier League

Mohammed Salah has been voted the official Premier League Man of the Match in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat of Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day to go seven points clear of second placed Chelsea with a game played less.

The Egyptian scored once in the game, had three shots on target, made two key passes and had one successful dribble, according to the Premier League official website.

Salah has now been named man of the match in 15 of the 17 games Liverpool have played so far this season as the 32 year old became the eighth player to score 100 home goals in the Premier League (98 at Anfield, 2 at Stamford Bridge).

The Liverpool winger has now been directly involved in more Premier League goals for Liverpool (250 Goals/Assists in 267 games) than Thierry Henry was for Arsenal (249 Goals/Assists in 258 games).

Only three players have more goal involvements for a single side in the competition’s history and they are Wayne Rooney (276), Ryan Giggs (271) and Harry Kane (259).

He is the first player in Premier League history to score or assist in 10+ consecutive games three times.

Salah is however focused on helping Liverpool win the Premier League for the second time since 1992 when the English topflight league changed name.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, Salah says he was proud of reaching a century of home goals but wants the Premier League title.

On scoring 100 home goals in the Premier League: “Something I am very proud of. We keep working hard and hopefully I can go a bit further.”

On his form: “The most important thing is the team winning – hopefully we win the Premier League.

“It is great, but we focus on each game and hopefully we carry on like that.

“It feels different, but the most important thing is we need to stay humble.

“This one is very special, hopefully we win the Premier League and for this club it is something I dream of.”
