Fasuba’s daughter, Annabelle runs 7.58 to break another record, wins Southern indoor title

Annabelle Fasuba, the 13-year-old daughter of Nigeria’s 100m record holder, Olusoji Fasuba can’t stop breaking records.

The new sprint sensation broke a championship record to win the South of England indoor under-15 60m title on Saturday.

According to the Plymouth Gazzette, the English Schools’ 100m champion clocked a stunning 7.58 seconds to take victory at Lee Valley.

The 7.58 seconds was not only a record and a personal best for her, but it ranks her top of the UK rankings and moves her into the top 10 of all-time for that age group.

The newspaper also reported that ‘her time would have also won the under-17 final at Lee Valley and puts her into the UK’s top 15 females so far this year.’

Her time ranks as probably the fastest U15 time in the world this year but certainly fourth in the world U18 top list, 19th in the U20 and among the 120th fastest times so far recorded this year in the senior category.

Annabelle is bent on following his father’s footsteps and has set making the podium her ultimate goal.

Her father won the World indoor 60m title in 2008, same year he became the first and only man in African Athletics Championships history to win the 100m title three times in a row.

Fasuba is the second fastest Nigerian ever over the 60m (6.49) behind Deji Aliu (6.48) while he remains the fastest Nigerian ever in the 100m event (9.85).
