‘I lost a dream while chasing a dream’: Oduduru to reveal how his dream was cut short on Saturday
Divine Oduduru says he will reveal on Saturday how his dreams were cut short just when he was about to take the world by storm. The Nigeria 200m record holder made a huge statement on what is to come when he ran 9.86 and 19.73 to successfully complete a sprint double at the NCAA outdoor championships in Austin, Texas.
The feat launched him as a potential candidate for Olympics and World glory after his Collegiate sojourn.
While injuries delayed his flight to stardom, a six year ban certainly killed his dream and that of millions across the globe who saw him as the next big thing in track and field.
‘A tenant denied the chance to showcase his dream, held back by individual selfishness. This is what I have worked for all my life,’ Oduduru wrote on his social media pages on Thursday and promised his fans he will tell his side of the story this Saturday evening.
‘To all my wonderful fans, join me on Saturday 5pm Nigerian time via @Lapalabras and @Boldsportsng as I share my story on how my dreams were cut short by those who believed they could act with impunity because I come from a country where no one would question them.’
Oduduru was slammed a six year ban in October 2023 by a three-member Disciplinary Tribunal for committing two Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) of Possession of Prohibited Substances and the Attempted Use of a Prohibited Substance or Method and ordered to pay World Athletics US$3000 towards its expenses regarding the case.
