‘I’m focused on the team, we have certain goals in the season which are taking firm steps towards these goals’: Osimhen slams the door on Galatasaray January exit

Victor Osimhen looks to have slammed the door on any move away from Galatasaray this January.

The Nigerian had his 20th goal involvement for the Yellow and Red in their 1-1 with Atakaş Hatayspor in the Trendyol Super Lig.

The 26-year-old is focused on helping the club achieve great things and not on any transfer following the reported link with Manchester United.

“When I came to the team, my friends welcomed me very well. They helped me in every way. My teacher was always there for me. He showed confidence in me. My teammates showed that. In this way, it was easy to adapt.

‘Right now, I’m focused on the team. We have certain goals in the season. We are taking firm steps towards these goals. We continue to struggle. I believe we will achieve great things,’ Osimhen told the Galatasaray website after the game.

Osimhen also spoke about the draw at Atakaş Hatayspor on Friday evening.

“There was a bit of a lack of violence in the first half. We let the opponent play a little bit. Then we started the second half very well with the speech of our coach. We have also increased violence.

‘We focused too much on our game. These matches are tough. We need to stay focused. We need to seize every opportunity. We missed a lot of opportunities. We will learn from our mistakes and try to do better,’ he said and dismissed the notion that the team must be tired.

“I don’t think there’s fatigue in the team. This is our job. It’s not just 11 people. Those in the hut are also always ready. I think it’s normal to have two games during the week and at the weekend. I’m always ready and I always want to play for my team. We will look at this game and see our mistakes. We will learn from them and try to do better.”
