Rivers United ranked among Africa’s top 30 and World’s top 400 clubs by IFFHS; Rangers, Remo Stars and Enyimba in top 700

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has released its latest rankings, and Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt has once again solidified its position among Africa’s top 30 clubs.

The Pride of Rivers secured the 26th position in the IFFHS Club Ranking – Africa, a testament to the team’s consistency, hard work, and commitment to excellence.

This achievement underscores Rivers United’s status as one of the top-rated teams on the continent.

Notably, Rivers United is the only Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) side ranked in the top 30 in Africa, demonstrating the club’s superiority and dominance in Nigerian and African football.

According to the IFFHS, the top three spots were claimed by Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids, while Wydad AC (25), Rivers United (26), Maniema Union (27), Stade Tunisien (28), Al-Hilal (29), and Djoliba completed the top 30.

In the World, Rivers United are also the only Nigerian team in the top 400 as they are ranked 396th in the world, down from their previous ranking of 359.

The next Nigerian club in the ranking are the Flying Antelopes, Rangers international of Enugu who dropped from 483rd to 494th while Remo Stars are ranked 666th, dropping from their previous ranking of 646th.

Interestingly, Enyimba of Aba, Nigeria’s 9-time league champion and two-time CFA Champions League winners are ranked 666th, improving from their previous ranking of 677th.

The ranking, which covers the period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, is a reflection of Rivers United’s continued growth and dominance in African football.
