Fakorede scorches to new 6.60 lifetime best to win 60m at Orange and Purple Invitational

Ekiti state-born Adekalu Fakorede stormed to a new 6.60 seconds lifetime best to win the 60m event at the Orange and Purple Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, South Carolina on Friday.

The Nigerian, who is campaigning in the NCAA indoor circuit for the first time in his career has now improved from 6.64 that he ran last week to 6.60.

Auburn University’s Israel Okon, another Nigerian who also made his NCAA indoor debut this year, also ran a new 6.63 lifetime best to come third while his school mate, Kanyinsola Ajayi, who sped to a 6.57 finish in the heat did not start in the final.

He has now become the 16th Nigerian to run inside 6.60 in the event.

In the women’s version, Faith Okwose ran 7.35 to place fourth in the final while Adaobi Tabugo was also fourth in the women’s 60m hurdles after stopping the clock at 8.18 seconds.
