NPFL: Enyimba secure first away win in four months, Rangers beat Ikorodu City again

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele’s 40th minute goal against Lobi Stars of Makurdi at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa stadium in Bauchi in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 22 tie was enough to secure Enyimba International of Aba, their first away win in over four months.

Enyimba have not won on the road since September 2024 when they defeated Emmanuel and Heartland 3-1 at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri in their opening game of the 2024/25 NPFL season.

The victory moved Enyimba to seventh on the log with 31 points from 21 games, while Daniel Amokachi’s Lobi Stars are still stuck in the bottom three with 21 points from 22 matches, a point above Akwa United who are bottom of the log.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Rangers returned to winning ways again with a 1-0 defeat of Ikorodu City to become the first team to do a double over the Oga Boys in their first season in the Nigerian top flight.

Rangers won 1-0 back in September courtesy of a Collins Ugwieze’s 25th minute goal at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena at Onikan, Lagos.

On Monday evening in Enugu, one goal in each hald by Godwin Obaje in the 45th minute and Isaac Saviour on 89 minutes was enough to give the Coal City outfit their first three points of 2025 after losing 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes and El Kanemi Warriors last month.

The result has moved the Flying Antelopes to fourth on the log on 34 points from 22 games.
