Umukoro, Godbless storm to new lifetime best at New Mexico Collegiate Classic 2025

‘Naija has got talent’. This was put in full display at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic 2025 on Sunday when the Nigerian duo of Success Umukoro and Tima Gdbless balzed to new personal best in the 60m event.
Umukoro, the Texas Tech student-athlete scorched to a 7.13 seconds lifetime best to win her heat and qualify for the final where she ran 7.17 seconds to win.
Godbless, the reigning National Sports Festival double sprint champion, also stormed to a 7.14 personal best to also win her heat but failed to start in the final.
Umukoro, who held a 7.15 lifetime best before the race has now moved above Favour Ofili (7.14) and into 10th in the Nigerian all-time list while Godbless, who came to the meeting with a 7.22 personal best, moved behind Umukoro as the 11th fastest Nigerian ever over the 60m race.
Chioma Ajunwa and Christy Opara-Thompson hold the Nigerian record at 7.02 while five others also ran inside 7.10.
