Kelechi Iheanacho will be seeking to end his search for his first goal in the League if he makes his debut for Middlesbrough in their Sky Bet championship game at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.
The Nigerian is on loan at the Riverside following his unproductive stint in the Spanish LaLiga with Sevilla, the club he joined as a free agent last July.
Without any goal involvement in the nine LaLiga games he featured in, Iheanacho has returned to England where he scored 82 goals in 296 games across all competitions for two clubs viz Leicester City (232 games and 61 goals) and Manchester City (64 games and 21 goals).
The 28 year old will be hoping to hit the ground running by scoring on his debut for Middlesbrough and if he does, it will be his first in the League in 16 months.
Iheanacho has not scored in the League since October 2023 when he netted in Leicester City’s game against Swansea in a Sky Bet Championship game.
If he plays, it will also be his 24th game in the English second tier League after netting five goals in 23 games for the Foxes who were relegated from the Premier League in 2023/24 season.
