D’Tigers to know 2025 AfroBasket opponents in April

Nigeria’s D’Tigers will know their opponents at the 31st AfroBasket Championship in April.

This is because the draw for the competition will take place on Saturday 19 April in Luanda, Angola, according to the FIBA Regional Office for Africa.

This year’s 16-nation AfroBasket will take place from 12-24 August.

It’s the fourth time that Angola has hosted the now quadrennial tournament, after 1989, 1999 and 2007 when it was a biennial showpiece.

The teams that have qualified for the continent’s premier basketball tournament include Angola (hosts), Tunisia (reigning champions), Guinea, Cape Verde, Libya, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Madagascar, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, South Sudan, DR Congo and Mali.

Nigeria will be seeking to win the Championship for the first time since they first won in 2015, beating in the final.

This will be the 14th time they will be playing in the competition.
