Kipchumba Kemboi admits to spiking his system with triamcinolone acetonide, gets two-year ban

The AIU has banned Emmanuel Kipchumba Kemboi (Kenya) for 2 years from 7 April 2025 after the athlete admitted to using a prohibited substance, triamcinolone acetonide.

The Kenyan’s urine sample provided in-competition at the EDP Lisbon Marathon held in Lisbon, Portugal returned with a report of an adverse analytical finding at the World Anti-Doping Agency’s accredited laboratory in Lisbon, Portugal.

According to the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU, Kemboi was notified of the finding as well as his rights to, inter alia, request the B Sample analysis, to request copies
of the laboratory documentation supporting the Adverse Analytical Finding and to admit the Anti-Doping Rule Violations.

Early this month, Kemboi wrote to the AIU admitting the Use of triamcinolone acetonide, and, five days later, he sent his sent his admission of anti-doping rule violations and acceptance
of consequences form which he signed.

Consequently, the AIU slammed him with a two-year period of ineligibility a period commencing on 7 April 2025 as well as a disqualification of his results on and since 6 October 2024, with all resulting Consequences, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points, prizes and appearance money.
