Morata: It’s a joy for me to play with Osimhen

Alvaro Morata says he is delighted to be in the same team with Victor Osimhen at Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray after netting a brace in the yellow and reds’ 5-1 mauling of Eyupspor Sunday at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadi.

Morata scored twice in the game while Osimhen scored once and provided an assist to ensure Galatasaray stay ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the race for the Super Lig title.

Praising his team-mate Osimhen, Morata said: ‘He (Osimhen) is a great person, one of the greatest strikers in the world. It’s a joy for me to play with him and my other friends. I hope we will celebrate the championship together,’ said the Spaniard in a post-match interview.

Morata joined Galatasaray on loan from AC Milan in February and the contract expires January 2026.

The 32 year old has scored five goals and provided two assists in the 11 games he has played for his ‘new’ club.

Like Morata, Osimhen also joined Galatasaray on loan from Serie A side, Napoli last September and has scored the goals (23) that have kept the Yellow and Red five points clear of Fenerbahce with six games left to play.
