Tima Godbless confirms bid for SEC sprint double after sealing 100m final spot; Ajayi, Okon, Onojuvwevwo also in final

Tima Godbless will be contesting for the 100m and 200m gold at the Southeastern Conference, SEC, Championships this weekend after running 11.29 to seal her place in Saturday’s 100m final.

The 20 year old had a day earlier qualified for the 200m final, also scheduled to hold on Saturday, after running 22.62 to win her heat.

The reigning National Sports Festival double sprint queen will be competing in her second straight SEC 100m and 200m final and will hope she can successfully complete a sprint double this time ahead of the NCAA Division I East First Rounds towards the end of the month.

In the men’s 100m, Kanyinsola Ajayi ran 10.15 to book his place in the final alongside his Auburn University Nigerian compatriot Israel Okon who sped to a 10.12 finish to win heat three while Mississippi State University’s Adekalu Fakorede did not make the cut for the final despite running 10.23 to finish second behind Okon in heat three.

Also through to the final, this time in the women’s 400m is Ella Onojuvwevwo who ran 51.24 to place second in heat 4 but still managed to secure a spot in the final.

In the men’s version, Samuel Ogazi also zoomed to the final after storming home first in heat two.
