Amusan eyes Paris victory to boost Diamond League Final chances

Tobi Amusan could move a step closer to securing her place in the Diamond League final if she wins the 100m hurdles at the Meeting De Paris Diamond League on Friday at the Charlety Stadium in Paris, France.

The Nigerian hurdler returns to Paris for the first time since the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she did not make the final. However, she has had success at this venue before, setting an African record of 12.41s when she won in 2022.

Amusan is currently fourth in the 100m hurdles standings with 10 points from two Diamond League meetings.

She trails leader Grace Stark (23 points), two-time World Champion Williams Danielle (15 points), and South Africa’s Fourie Marione (12 points). With Williams and Fourie not competing, Amusan could move up to 18 points and second place if she wins in Paris.

A three-time Diamond League champion, Amusan is aiming for her fourth title in five years if she qualifies for the final in Zurich. After Paris, she plans to compete in at least two more Diamond League meetings, possibly in Monaco, Silesia, or Lausanne, before the final.
