Rivers Angels, Abakaliki FC Set for Historic Showdown in President Federation Cup Finals

The much-anticipated grand finale of the President Federation Cup takes center stage this Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, with a thrilling double-header on the cards.
In the women’s final, defending champions Rivers Angels go head-to-head with Nasarawa Amazons, while the men’s final features a fairytale clash between underdogs Abakaliki FC and seasoned campaigners Kwara United.
This year’s tournament has been marked by history-making feats. Abakaliki FC’s journey to the final marks the first time a team from Ebonyi State has reached the pinnacle of the national competition. Kwara United, on the other hand, makes a long-awaited return, being the first team from the state to reach the final in 49 years—echoing the trail once blazed by Alyufsalam Rocks in 1976.
Abakaliki FC carved their way into the spotlight with giant-slaying performances, eliminating the likes of Enyimba FC, Katsina United, and Ikorodu City. Kwara United, who launched their campaign with a win over Cynosure FC, have steadily surged to the final under head coach Tunde Sanni.
