Tobi Amusan is no stranger to pressure—but the stakes in Eugene on July 5 will be unlike any she’s faced this season.

The Nigerian sprint hurdler, world record holder and three-time Diamond League champion, is set to clash with Olympic champion Masai Russell and reigning Diamond League titleholder Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in what promises to be a seismic showdown at the Prefontaine Classic.

For Amusan, this isn’t just another race. It’s a return to Hayward Field—the very track where she stunned the world with her 12.12s world record in 2022 and clinched her last Diamond League crown in 2023.

Now, with the Tokyo World Athletics Championships looming in September, Eugene becomes a proving ground.

After a rocky start to the 2025 season, Amusan has surged back into form. She clocked a season-best 12.24s in Paris, narrowly finishing behind Grace Stark, the current Diamond League leader.
