Stars align for thrilling President Federation Cup Finale in Lagos
Lagos is set to host a spectacular convergence of politics, sports, and entertainment on Saturday as the curtain falls on this year’s President Federation Cup at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Four state governors—Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), and Rivers State’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas—will headline a glittering guest list that includes Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Seyi Tinubu, SSA on Grassroots Sports Development, and Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye.
The event is expected to bring out Nigeria’s entertainment royalty alongside top football administrators, including NFF President and WAFU B boss, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and GTI’s Alhaji Abubakar Lawal. Former WAFU President Chief Jonathan Ogufere and veteran football journalist Pa Segun Adenuga will also be in attendance.
In a heartwarming tribute to history, the Lagos State Football Association will honour Pa Biliaminu Thanni, the oldest living winner of the Nigeria National Cup. The Mobolaji Johnson Arena—formerly King George V Stadium and the cradle of the Cup final since its inception in 1945—stands ready to etch new memories.
Saturday’s showdown begins with the women’s final at 1:00pm featuring reigning champions Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt against Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia. The men’s finale follows at 4:00pm as Abakaliki FC battles Kwara United for national glory.
