Nigeria Weightlifting Federation unveils timeline for 2025 Board Elections

The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) has officially announced the electoral timetable leading to its 2025 Electoral Congress, as part of preparations for the nationwide Sports Federations’ elections.

According to the timeline released in a memo signed by NWF Secretary-General, Melvina Apeh, the collection of nomination forms for aspirants vying for positions on the Executive Board will commence on Thursday, July 3, and close on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

The electoral process will move into its next phase on July 20, when the Electoral Committee is expected to submit the full list of aspirants to the NWF Board for ratification. Additionally, accredited representatives from NAPHER, NAWIS, and relevant institutions are to submit their respective lists by Friday, August 1.

The 2025 Electoral Congress has been officially scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

It is worth recalling that the current Board, led by Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Aladi, came into office through the last Congress held on September 30, 2021. Since assuming leadership, Dr. Ibrahim has received wide acclaim from both domestic and international stakeholders for his visionary and transformative stewardship.
