Ofili ignites Memphis track with blistering wind-legal 22.00s!

Favour Ofili unleashed her fastest 200m time in over three years at the Ed Murphey Track Classic, blazing to 22.00s to secure second place behind three-time NCAA champion McKenzie Long, who clocked 21.93s in a late surge.

Ofili dominated the curve and was ahead for close to 193 meters before Long edged past, becoming one of only five women this season to break the 22-second barrier.

Ofili’s time marks her quickest since April 2022, when she made history as the first—and still only—Nigerian woman to go sub-22 seconds (21.96) in the 200m.

Now aged 22, the Paris 2024 Olympic finalist has surged to No. 7 on the 2025 global top list in the women’s 200m.

She also solidifies her status by holding the two fastest 200m times ever by a Nigerian: 21.96s (2022) and 22.00s (2025).

Her electrifying form makes her a serious medal contender for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September, should she opt to represent Nigeria.
