Sacchi: Lookman could be Inter Milan’s X-factor If…

Legendary Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi has thrown his support behind Ademola Lookman’s potential move to Inter Milan, stating that the Nigerian forward could be a game-changer—if he adapts quickly and integrates well with the squad.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi described Lookman as ‘a phenomenal sprinter,’ highlighting the explosive pace and directness that Inter’s attack currently lacks. ‘That is the quality Inter need to make the most of,’ he said.

Sacchi also expressed interest in Inter’s new signing Ange-Yoan Bonny, calling the French striker ‘a unique kind of forward—selfless and hardworking,’ though he noted Bonny’s need to sharpen his finishing skills.

When asked whether Inter’s potential upgrade from Marko Arnautovic and Mehdi Taremi to Bonny and Lookman represented progress, Sacchi was unequivocal:

‘It is definitely a step forward, no doubt.’

He went further, imagining a front three of Lookman, Marcus Thuram, and Lautaro Martínez, but cautioned that tactical discipline would be key.

‘Anything is possible, as long as everyone sacrifices themselves for the good of the team,’ Sacchi said.

‘In my Milan, Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Donadoni and the rest all played together. The key is that Chivu outlines a clear strategy and that his players stick to it without getting discouraged at the first setback.’

Lookman, who scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 40 appearances for Atalanta last season, is currently in negotiations to join Inter.

Atalanta are holding out for a €50 million transfer fee, while Inter have reportedly increased their offer to €45 million plus bonuses.
