FIFA opens major Africa Office in Rabat

FIFA has officially opened its new Africa headquarters in Rabat, marking a major milestone in the organization’s commitment to football development across the continent.

Located at the cutting-edge Mohammed VI Football Complex, the office will serve as a strategic hub for supporting African federations and coordinating key initiatives.

The launch follows a Host Agreement signed last December in Marrakech between FIFA, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

Rabat now joins Paris, Miami, and Jakarta as one of FIFA’s global office locations—solidifying Morocco’s role as a central player in world football.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed the moment as “a glorious day” and praised Morocco’s forward-looking vision:
‘We will write, in gold letters, the wonderful history of FIFA, of football in Africa, of football in Morocco, of football in the world.’

He also thanked King Mohammed VI for his leadership and support in making the complex a reality.

The Rabat office will work alongside existing FIFA regional centers in Brazzaville, Dakar, Johannesburg, and Kigali to implement development programs and elevate football at all levels.

The opening ceremony drew top officials including CAF President Patrice Motsepe, FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa, and FIFA General Secretary Mattias Grafström.

Morocco’s recent achievements—both on the pitch and as a host nation—have earned it international acclaim.

The country will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Portugal and Spain, becoming only the second African nation to do so.
