Fulham Weigh Move for Nigerian Winger Philip Otele

Fulham are reportedly considering a move for FC Basel winger Philip Otele as negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk over Brazilian forward Kevin continue to stall.

According to multiple reports, including Give Me Sport, the West London club is keen to bolster its wide options before the summer transfer window closes.

Scouts from Fulham were in attendance during Basel’s 1-1 Champions League qualifier against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night, closely monitoring the 26-year-old Nigerian, who is believed to be available for around £12.2 million.

Otele, who began his career at Teesside University, recently completed a permanent move to Basel following a successful loan spell, during which he helped the club secure a domestic league and cup double, scoring nine goals in 29 appearances.

Capable of playing on either wing or as a central striker, Otele’s versatility has attracted interest from other clubs, with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt also reportedly weighing up a bid.

Should Fulham finalize the deal, Otele would become the third Nigerian international at Craven Cottage, joining Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in Marco Silva’s squad.

The trio would further strengthen the club’s growing Nigerian contingent
