Falconets kick off training in Ibadan ahead of Rwanda clash

Nigeria’s U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have begun preparations in Ibadan for their upcoming second leg fixture against Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The two-time World Cup silver medallists arrived in the Oyo State capital on Monday and were warmly received by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke. She assured the team of the state government’s full support and offered prayers for their success in Saturday’s crucial encounter.

Captain Joy Igbokwe expressed gratitude on behalf of the team, pledging a determined performance to make Nigeria proud.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Gambian referee Ngum Fatou to officiate the match. She will be assisted by compatriots Jainaba Manneh (assistant referee 1), Abbie Ceesay (assistant referee 2), and Isatou Touray (fourth official).

Liberia’s Jodie Marian Reid Seton will serve as match commissioner, while Egyptian Hayam Mohammed Baraka has been named referee assessor.
