WAFU-B U17 Championship: Golden Eaglets set for semi-final clash with Ghana

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will face the Black Starlets of Ghana in the semi-finals of the WAFU-B U17 Championship after a goalless draw against Burkina Faso’s Baby Stallions in their final Group B match on Saturday evening at Stade Lycee Scientifique.

The Eaglets dominated proceedings from the outset, applying consistent pressure, but Burkina Faso’s defence held firm. The Burkinabes relied on sporadic counter-attacks, which were effectively neutralized by Nigeria’s backline, resulting in a stalemate after 90 minutes.

Nigeria’s Boluwatife Thompson stood out with his intelligent dribbling and attacking flair, earning the Man of the Match award.

With the draw, Nigeria will now take on Ghana in the second semi-final of the tournament, scheduled for Tuesday at Stade Charles Konan Banny, with kickoff set for 8pm Nigeria time.
