Flamingos blaze through friendlies ahead of U17 World Cup in Morocco

Nigeria’s U17 Women’s National Team, the Flamingos, are heading to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco with momentum and confidence after a flawless run in their preparatory friendlies.

In eight matches played at their Abuja camp, the Flamingos have recorded eight wins, netting 26 goals and conceding none.

Their recent 3-0 win over Abuja All Stars featured goals from Praise Agba, Olamide Olanrewaju (penalty), and Zainab Raji, while goalkeeper Sylvia Echefu delivered a standout performance with multiple saves.

Earlier, they overcame Josiah Academy 2-0 in a rain-shortened match, with Chisom Nwachukwu scoring twice in the opening minutes.

Other dominant victories included a 5-0 rout of Nazareth Angels, highlighted by Queen Joseph’s brace, and another 5-0 win over Horvel Prime, where Joseph bagged a rapid hat-trick, supported by goals from Shakirat Moshood and Azeezat Oduntan.

The Flamingos have shown impressive depth, tactical discipline, and attacking flair, and now turn their attention to Group D, where they’ll face Canada, France, and Samoa.

The team departs Nigeria on October 8, ready to chase glory in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
