17 Eagles Land in South Africa for Crucial World Cup Qualifier Against Lesotho
A total of 17 Super Eagles players have arrived in South Africa ahead of Nigeria’s must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
Goalkeepers Dele Adeleye and Amos Obasogie are already settled in camp at Polokwane, while 15 other players touched down in Johannesburg and are en route to the team’s base.
Leading the charge is Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who made his return to action last week in the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.
Osimhen missed Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with South Africa due to an injury sustained during the 1-0 defeat of Rwanda in Uyo a few days earlier.
Also back in the fold is Ademola Lookman, who has resolved his transfer impasse with Atalanta and is fit for the double-header.
Captain William Troost-Ekong, midfield dynamo Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemechi, Terem Moffi, and Moses Simon are all part of the traveling squad.
South Africa-based goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali joins the team on home soil, while the England-based contingent includes Uche Chrisantus, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Tolu Arokodare, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, and Semi Ajayi, who returns after a spell on the sidelines.
With the full squad assembling in Polokwane, preparations are in full swing for Thursday’s high stakes encounter.
