Moises Caicedo named Premier League Player of Matchweek 7

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been voted Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 7 of the 2025/26 Premier League season, topping a fan poll with 31% of the votes.

The Ecuadorian star delivered a standout performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over defending champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, opening the scoring with a spectacular long-range strike.

His defensive prowess and sharp distribution helped neutralize Liverpool’s attack, earning widespread praise.

According to the Premier League website, Caicedo’s impact this season has been remarkable, he’s now Chelsea’s joint top scorer with three goals, surpassing his combined tally from the previous two campaigns.

He also leads the league in tackles (28) and interceptions (18), underlining his dominance in midfield.

In the fan vote, AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo came second with 22%, followed by Declan Rice (15%), Benjamin Sesko (14%), Mohammed Kudus (8%), Jack Grealish (4%), and both Bruno Guimaraes and Donyell Malen with 3% each.

Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi remains the only Nigerian player nominated for the award this season, earning recognition in Matchweek 5. That week’s winner was Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch.
