Port Harcourt to Host NBPL Finals for Third Consecutive Year
Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has once again been selected to host the final stages of the Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL), marking the third consecutive year the city will serve as the venue for the league’s climactic showdown.
The 2025 NBPL Final Eight Playoffs and Final Four will be organized by reigning champions Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club, whose bid was the only one received and subsequently approved by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).
This development was confirmed in an official communiqué jointly signed by Babatunde Ogunade, Chairman of the Men’s Premier League, and Amina O. Amanchi, Secretary General of the NBBF.
The document was circulated to all participating clubs and relevant stakeholders, affirming Port Harcourt’s continued role as host city following successful editions in 2023 and 2024.
Teams are expected to arrive in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 26, with match action for the Final Eight Playoffs scheduled to run from Monday, October 27 through Sunday, November 2.
Departures are slated for Monday, November 3. The playoff format will feature a round-robin system, where each of the eight qualifying teams will face off once against every other team. The top four teams from this stage will advance to the Final Four, which will be held from Thursday, November 20 to Monday, November 24.
All matches will take place at the Indoor Basketball Court located at 59 Niger Street in Port Harcourt Township, a venue that has become synonymous with high stakes basketball in Nigeria.
Rivers Hoopers, who clinched the NBPL title on home soil in both 2023 and 2024, will be aiming to secure a historic third consecutive championship in front of their home fans.
