Moraks Honoured with SWAN @60 Veteran Sports Journalist Award

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has bestowed its prestigious SWAN @60 Veteran Sports Journalist Award on Mr. Morakinyo Abodunrin, celebrating his remarkable legacy and enduring impact on sports journalism in Nigeria.

In a letter dated October 13, 2025, and signed by SWAN Secretary-General Ikenna Okonkwo, the association described Abodunrin—also a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)—as a “valued pioneer and pillar of the profession,” whose passion, mentorship, and editorial excellence have inspired generations and enriched Nigeria’s sporting narrative.

The award is part of SWAN’s Diamond Jubilee festivities, scheduled to take place from October 29 to 31 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The formal Awards and Appeal Fund Ceremony will be held on October 31 at the VIP Lounge, Package A of the stadium.
