CAF Confirms Egypt as Host Nation for 2025 Women’s Champions League
CAF has officially confirmed that Egypt will host the 2025 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League. The tournament is scheduled to take place from November 8 to 21, 2025, with the final draw set for Monday, October 27 at CAF Headquarters in Cairo.
Eight teams have qualified for this year’s competition and will be drawn into two groups of four. FC Masar will represent the host nation, while defending champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo return to defend their title.
Other qualified teams include AS FAR of Morocco from the UNAF Zone, USFAS Bamako of Mali from WAFU Zone A, ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast from WAFU Zone B, 15 Agosto de Akonibe of Equatorial Guinea from the UNIFFAC Zone, Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana from the COSAFA Zone, and JKT Queens of Tanzania from the CECAFA Zone.
In accordance with tournament regulations, FC Masar and TP Mazembe will be seeded as leaders of Groups A and B respectively. The draw ceremony will feature Egyptian international Sarah Essam, the first Arab woman to play professional football in both England and Spain.
Essam, who also served as an official FIFA World Cup ambassador in 2022, currently plays for Halifax Women FC in England and continues to be a leading figure in African women’s football.
