Iwobi looks to extend scoring record against Wolves to seven in 13 games

Alex Iwobi is eyeing a return to the scoresheet this weekend as he prepares to face Wolverhampton Wanderers, a side he has enjoyed remarkable success against throughout his Premier League career.

The Nigerian midfielder has scored six goals in 12 appearances against Wolves, more than against any other club, and will be aiming to notch his second goal of the season, nearly two months after his first.

Now in his 11th Premier League campaign, Iwobi continues to carve out a historic legacy.

With 32 goals and 37 assists in 300 appearances, he recently became the first Nigerian to reach the 300-game milestone in the competition. He also leads all Nigerian players in minutes played, having surpassed the 20,000-minute mark with a current total of 20,528.

Iwobi is also closing in on another significant benchmark. With 9,315 completed passes, he is on the verge of joining Wilfred Ndidi (10,285) as one of the few Nigerians to complete 10,000 passes in Premier League history.

At 29, Iwobi remains a model of consistency. He is poised to make his 10th start in the first 10 games of the 2025/26 season, a feat he has already achieved twice in the past four campaigns.

He first accomplished it in 2022/23, the same season he became only the second Nigerian, after Joseph Yobo, to start all 38 matches in a Premier League season.

He repeated the 10-game streak last season, and if selected this weekend, will mark his 238th start in 301 appearances, further extending his record for the most starts by a Nigerian in Premier League history.
